Crab University survives JGB 14U Red rally, escapes with 5-4 victory

JGB 14U Red was never able to get over the hump and get over its troubles against Crab University on Friday, as JGB 14U Red fell 5-4 at Westview HS after falling behind by three runs in the fifth inning.

JGB 14U Red scored two runs in the seventh on. Still, JGB 14U Red couldn’t catch Crab University.

Preston Moltz reached base two times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He tripled in the third inning.

James Cantarero did his best to jumpstart the offense for JGB 14U Red, reaching base three times. He scored one run and had one RBI.

Alex Greene recorded the win for Crab University. He allowed one run over three innings. He struck out two, walked two and surrendered one hit.

Eli Sanchez ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just four innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed four runs.

In the top of the second, Crab University grabbed the early lead, 1-0. Noel Aristy kicked things off for Crab University with a single. An error then moved Aristy from first to third.

JGB 14U Red answered Crab University’s top inning with one run of its own in the second. JGB 14U Red scored on an RBI double by Christian Diaz.

Crab University never trailed after scoring two runs in the third on an RBI single by Aristy and an RBI triple by Moltz.

After posting one run in the fourth, Crab University again scored one in the fifth. In the fourth, Crab University scored on an RBI double by Jack Silder, bringing home Sean O’Connor.
