Scoreboard operators were busy at Camelback Ranch-Dodgers and White Sox Spring Training on Saturday as CrabFest All Americans and the Performance Plus Reds combined for 17 runs. CrabFest All Americans eventually won the offensive battle 9-8 in six innings.
The teams combined for 18 hits, including four extra base hits.
The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to seven lead changes in the game.
CrabFest All Americans took the lead in the sixth inning and held on for the victory. A fielder’s choice scored Jake Guy and gave CrabFest All Americans the lead for good.
DaVonn Griffin racked up two RBIs on three hits for CrabFest All Americans. He singled in the third and fourth innings and doubled in the sixth inning.
Will Pyne got the win for CrabFest All Americans. He allowed four runs over 4 2/3 innings. Will Pyne struck out five, walked one and gave up four hits.
Chase Brigham ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked three, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
CrabFest All Americans got the win even though Will Sass didn’t last long on the bump. Will Sass was taken out after one inning. Will Sass surrendered three hits and four runs.
The Performance Plus Reds jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the top of the second. The Performance Plus Reds’ rally started when Josh White singled. A stolen base then moved White from first to second. The Performance Plus Reds pushed more runs across when Neito scored on a walk by Sabastian Salaiz, Defrancesco scored on a fielder’s choice, and Stanfill scored on an RBI single by Abraham Karim.
CrabFest All Americans scored one run in the second inning, and then followed it up with one more in the fourth. In the second, CrabFest All Americans scored on an error, bringing home Zach Seal.
